Meeting the unique skills requirements of the marine and offshore sectors

Humber Marine and Renewables represents a significant section of regional industry and is highly active and vocal on the skills agenda.

With the growth in offshore wind, Humber Marine and Renewables has joined with other key organisations to transform the skillset of the region’s current and future workforce in a number of important initiatives.

These include the development of our Marine & Offshore Skills Group, chaired by Iain Elliott of HETA, the objective of which is to identify skills gaps, future skills requirements and where possible build local capacity. It has a focus on providing pathways for careers in the marine/offshore industries including offshore wind crew, deckhands, skippers, pilots, O&M technicians and stevedores.

Humber Marine and Renewables will continue to contribute to innovation in skills development, both utilising the training expertise amongst its membership as well as high level, proactive activity to ensure that the unique challenges and opportunities of the maritime and offshore sectors are met by new initiatives.
