Siem Offshore Contractors Signs Contract for the Provision of Termination and Testing Services with JDR Cable Systems for the Beatrice OWF
12 July 2017 – Siem Offshore Contractors GmbH (“SOC”) announced that UK-based JDR Cable Systems Ltd. (“JDR”) has been selected to provide termination and testing services for the inter array cable system of the 588 MW Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd project.
JDR had already been awarded the design, manufacture and supply contract for the inter array cables on the same project by SOC on 18-Aug-2016.
The recent award takes place after more than half of the submarine composite cables produced have successfully passed factory acceptance tests (“FAT”) and now await load-out for installation by SOC, which is scheduled to commence later this year.
The Beatrice wind farm is located approximately 13 km off the Caithness coast line in the Outer Moray Firth on the north-western point of the Smith Bank and features 84 x 7 MW wind turbine generators (“WTGs”) and 2 x offshore transformer modules (“OTMs”), which will be inter-connected by 91 x 33kV medium voltage alternating current submarine composite cables totaling up to 164 km in length.
