Marine & Renewable
Ambassadors Programme

Humber Marine & Renewables is proud to announce the launch of the Maritime & Renewable Ambassadors Initiative—an inspiring new initiative created to empower young people aged 16–19 from across the Humber region. This six-month programme offers a unique opportunity for participants to explore the Humber’s rich maritime heritage, learn about the growing green and blue economy, and understand the region’s global role in shaping a more sustainable future.

Designed for everyone, not just those already focused on marine or renewable energy careers, the programme welcomes curiosity in all forms—whether you are passionate and informed or just starting to explore. The goal is to spark conversation, build awareness, and give young people the tools and confidence to engage with the sectors that will shape their future.

STAGE 1: Humber Marine and Renewable Video Challenge

Open to all 16–19-year-olds in the Humber region.

Register today on this page.

Competition entries will be retained by each school/college or institution and will be collected when the competition closes Feb 26.

This is your chance to show your creativity, raise your profile and help shape the Humber’s future.

Your challenge:

Create a 60–90 second video that inspires others to explore how the Humber’s maritime heritage and growing renewable industries are shaping a sustainable future.

The winning video will be showcased across all Humber Marine & Renewables social media channels in April 2026, helping launch the new Ambassadors Initiative — a programme designed to connect young people with real-world experiences, industry mentors, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to places the public rarely see.

Your video should:

  • Spark curiosity and make people want to get involved.
  • Highlight real-world opportunities across maritime, clean growth, and technology.
  • Show how your generation can play a part in building a sustainable Humber.
  • Be inspiring, thought-provoking, and original.

Think About

  • What excites you most about careers in maritime and clean growth?
  • Why do these sectors matter — locally, nationally, and globally?
  • How does the Humber connect its rich maritime past to an innovative, green future?
  • What examples can you share of real or future job opportunities across these industries

Connect Your Story to the Six Humber Ambassador Themes detailed below.

What We’re Looking For

Judges will be looking for videos that:

  • Inspire and engage – makes people think and feel connected.
  • Show understanding – reflects insight into Humber Marine & Renewables and the supply chains we represent.
  • Demonstrate creativity – original ideas, storytelling, and visuals.
  • Connect to the six themes – with a clear link to real-world experiences and opportunities.

Please note: Taking part in the video competition does not give automatic entry into the Ambassador programme.

STAGE 2: Humber Marine and Renewable Ambassadors Programme

Following a separate application process, 12 young people will be selected to join the first cohort. For one day each month over six months, Ambassadors will take part in themed experiences combining hands-on learning, industry insight, and creative expression. Each theme will connect the Humber’s past, present, and future—equipping Ambassadors with skills, knowledge, and confidence to shape tomorrow’s opportunities.

Important Note on Participation
For this first year (Stage 2), the Ambassadors Programme will run on a trial basis as we continue to establish the initiative’s foundations. Due to current funding constraints, logistical costs, and the time commitment required from young people and schools, participation may need to be limited to individuals from organisations or institutions that can support their travel to and from the monthly events. Participating colleges will be advise before stage commences.
